O ABRUPTO FEITO PELOS SEUS LEITORES: JANE AUSTEN

"Tinha encomendado o livro (sugestão do Economist cuja crítica li) e fui ontem buscá-lo. (…) É feito para fanáticos de Jane Austen, nos quais eu me incluo, e chama-se The Jane Austen Book Club. Tem, na capa, um cesto de morangos inclinado com alguns morangos espalhados, e no topo uma frase de algum crítico que diz ”If I could eat this novel, I would”. (…)

Sobre Jane Austen fica uma nota talvez mais junguiana que freudiana, que percebi após ter lido estes dois excertos do livro que a seguir reproduzo, (uma citação e um pedaço de texto). (A vantagem das mulheres, algumas pelo menos, é que reparam e falam sobre estas “coisas” e dizem o que não se deveria dizer e confessam o inconfessável, e claro, divertem-se com tudo isto!)
